How AI Has Changed the Cost of Inertia in AppSec
Time used to protect you. AI changed that.
It is a fair question for any CISO: if we haven't been breached, why change how we do AppSec? Because the constraint that kept most codebases safe was attacker time, and AI has removed it. Work that took skilled attackers weeks now costs a few thousand dollars in tokens, and the price keeps falling.
The same shift is available to defenders. Data science consultancy Win Vector built an econometric model, using Xint research data, to estimate what one AI-native scan is worth in breach risk and triage cost.
The result is a dollar figure per scan, with ranges, built to hold up in a budget review.
Inside the report:
- The full model, from expected breach loss to net value per scan
- Every input and its source, from breach cost to triage cost per finding
- How to adjust the estimate for your industry and region
